- Vice Minister of Employment and Labor Visits UD Impact Co., Ltd., to Discuss Policy Directions with Social Entrepreneurs

Chang-jun Kwon, Vice Minister of Employment and Labor, visited UD Impact Co., Ltd. at 2:30 p.m. on December 4 (Thursday) and held discussions on policy directions for social enterprises with representatives from five social enterprises.

This meeting was organized to hear firsthand voices from the field of social enterprises and to jointly explore policy directions necessary for social enterprises to enhance social value outcomes through sustainable growth.

The meeting was attended by social enterprises that are leading efforts to address social issues in various ways across the areas of employment, care, housing, and culture. Participating enterprises included UD Impact Co., Ltd., which produces entrepreneurs focused on solving social problems; Envisions Co., Ltd., which contributes to raising awareness of visual impairments through experiences such as “dialogue in the dark”; Dream Whale Social Cooperative, which provides care services for people with developmental disabilities; Spoit Co., Ltd., which operates sports-based social contribution programs; and Hope Nest Cooperative, which supports urban regeneration.

The participants shared difficulties and limitations they face during the growth process of social enterprises, including institutional challenges, and proposed policy directions to address these issues.

Vice Minister Chang-jun Kwon stated, “As we work to reestablish policy directions for social enterprises for next year, the government will actively communicate to ensure that policies are more closely aligned with on-the-ground realities.” He added, “We will continue to support them closely so that social enterprises can enhance their social performance, and we will also strive to build an ‘ecosystem’ that enables sustainable growth.”
