The Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) and the Korea Employment Information Service (KEIS) are set to receive applications for the 'outstanding employment service agency certification for 2017' from free or fee-charging job placement agencies and job information providers nationwide until August 25th (Fri.).

The 'outstanding employment service agency certification program' certifies agencies, such as job placement agencies and job information providers, which provide high-quality employment services.

By doing so, it offers criteria for selecting the employment service agencies job seekers and employers can trust when they look for jobs and workers.

It also provides an opportunity for employment service agencies to review their overall business or services and improve their services voluntarily.

From 2008 when the program was introduced until 2016, a total of 166 agencies were selected as outstanding employment service agencies.

* A total of 65 agencies whose certification remains valid as of 2017 are those certified in 2014 and thereafter. (The certification is valid for three years).

The 2017 outstanding employment service agency certification program, including the scope of eligible applicants and how to apply, is outlined below:

Free or fee-charging job placement agencies and job information providers for whom at least three years have passed since their date of business registration or notification and that have not received any punishment equivalent to or heavier than suspension of business in the past three years are eligible to apply.

The application form can be downloaded from the websites of MOEL(www.moel.go.kr), KEIS (www.keis.or.kr), Work-Net (www.work.go.kr) and the outstanding employment service agency certification program (best.keis.or.kr).

MOEL and KEIS will conduct a paper screening and on-site examinations of agencies applying for the certification. And then, after deliberation by the certification committee composed of tripartite partners and private experts, they will select and announce outstanding agencies later this year.

Agencies certified as outstanding employment service agencies can use the relevant certification mark issued in the name of the Minister of Employment and Labor for three years, and enjoy preferential treatment when they apply to participate in any employment-related project entrusted by the government to private agencies.

Meanwhile, KEIS will hold an information session on the outstanding employment service agency certification program in Seoul, Busan, etc., from August to inform employment service agencies of the certification program and help them fill out their applications.
