The Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL Minister Lee Ki-kweon) held the Second Work-Life Balance Conference at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry on November 16th (Wed.) to broaden the national consensus on the importance of work-life balance and spread the atmosphere of implementing the ‘ten suggestions for work innovation’ across workplaces.

During its first part (opening ceremony), a ceremony was held to present plaques of appreciation to companies leading the way in creating a culture of work-life balance and awards to the winners of the 2016 flexible work and work innovation essay contest. The ceremony was attended by Employment and Labor Minister Lee Ki-kweon and representatives of business associations and other related organizations.

Employment and Labor Minister Lee Ki-kweon said, "Reducing long working hours and spreading an employment culture that enables work-life balance will benefit all three stakeholders, namely workers, businesses and the country as a whole."

He also said, "Keenly aware that creating a flexible working environment amid changes in the industrial structure is a survival strategy for better corporate performance and a productivity-enhancing investment, the government, too, will actively help a culture of work-life balance take hold across workplaces."
