Employment and Labor Minister Lee Ki-kweon held a declaration ceremony at the Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Office on the afternoon of August 31st (Wed.) with the participation of industry associations, individual companies, part-time job portals, etc., to promote compliance with basic employment standards and spread electronic labor contracts.

During the declaration ceremony, MOEL proclaimed the launch of the 'campaign to create workplaces that keep promises and give hope to youth' and announced guidelines for promoting e-labor contracts, and participating companies presented their best practices for using e-labor contracts.

Minister Lee stressed at the ceremony, "Making legal and institutional improvements is important in order to put labor reforms into practice at the workplace level. But transforming the labor market into one in which workplaces comply with basic labor standards and employers and workers care for each other should be the more important priority."

He said, "Prompted by the declaration ceremony, we will entrench a new employment culture in which industries make voluntary efforts to establish basic employment order and will create workplaces which reward young people fairly for their passion and give them motivation to work."
