  • The Ministry of Employment and Labor is responsible for labor standards, the adjustment of industrial relations and guidance for trade unions, occupational safety and health, employee welfare, employment policies, equal employment, employment insurance, vocational skills development training, industrial accident compensation insurance and other labor affairs.
  • Function
  • Employment policy
  • Resolving mismatch in the labor market through advanced employment service, providing employment security programs for unemployment prevention and employment promotion, and working to create more descent jobs by analyzing the labor market and implementing social job service programs.
  • Vocational training and qualification
  • Creating a society with respect for technologies and skills and cultivating human resources by providing vocational training in owledge-based occupational areas.
  • Equal employment
  • Creating a culture of equality at work for women, the disabled, the aged, youths and minors, foreign workers, etc., and making a society based on the spirit of togetherness.
  • Social insurance
  • Making efforts to ensure the systematic management of employment insurance and industrial accident compensation insurance in terms of applying them and collecting their premiums.
  • Industrial relations
  • Striving to coordinate labor relations and promoting cooperation between labor, management and the government·finding the best examples of labor-management cooperation and providing support in many ways for the advancement of industrial relations.
  • Labor standards
  • Supervising the various standards both workers and employers should comply with, such as for labor contracts, rest/holidays/leave, wages, retirement pay, employment relationships, dismissal,employment rules, etc.
  • Occupational safety and healths
  • Making efforts to prevent industrial accidents by creating an accident-free and pleasant work environment.
  • International cooperation
  • Actively responding to international labor circumstances through overseas exchanges and cooperation.
